The work of the League is done by
Volunteers

We welcome new members to join any of our League efforts at any time. Find opportunities to volunteer below. You will be warmly welcomed.

Volunteer Now

Volunteer Opportunity for Naturalization Ceremony

  • Date: Every month (Time and Place vary)
  • Note: You will be paired with an experienced volunteer

Please volunteer to present voter information and register new citizens as voters. No experience is needed, as you will be paired with an experienced volunteer. Materials can be picked up at one of two locations, East Amherst or Elmwood Village. Please respond to Deborah Shiffner via the League Office and include your phone number.

Adopt a Local Library

  • Year-round: Stock election materials year-round,
  • General Election: create a special voting display in September and break it down again after the November election day
  • Place: the library of your choice in Erie or Niagara County

You will work with a League parner and library staff to find space for voting materials, a counter or shelf during the year and a larger display option, perhaps a glass case, from October 1 through the November election day.

We’re offering this opportunity because a pilot program has been so effective and so popular with librarians in both counties, and we hope to have information and displays in every library in Erie and Niagara County. Please get in touch with Ann Zawicki via the League Office.

Candidate Forums

  • Date: 6-8 weeks before each election date
  • Roles Needed:
    • Moderators
    • Timekeepers
    • Ushers
  • Note: We have developed a training PowerPoint as a resource to help anyone feel comfortable in the roles needed

Please consider joining us in this important voter education effort. The League has well-earned respect for our fair and civil events that give citizens an opportunity to hear directly from candidates about the issues that matter to voters. Contact Terri Parks if you’d like to learn more or, better still, are willing to volunteer.
