SUMMARY:Buffalo WaterKeepers July Solo Sweep Challenge
DESCRIPTION:\n\nJuly 2025 Solo Sweep Challenge\n\n\n\n\nA Solo Sweep is a cleanup effort by an individual (or small group) that is completed on their own without the coordination of Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper. These Solo Sweeps can take place anywhere, anytime, and people track litter collected by using the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell app. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Clean Swell app makes it easy to enter trash during a cleanup. Open the app, enter your name where it says “Group name,” and you are ready to go.\nSome people find it easier to work together, with one person picking up trash while another records the data in Clean Swell. There are simple icons to click for things like plastic bottles or cigarette butts to enter multiple items at once.\nAfter you are done for the day, click “Finish this Cleanup” to record the information.\nBuffalo Niagara Waterkeeper staff will then be able to track your work and keep a tally of it during the Solo Sweep Challenge.\n\n\n\n\nBy joining this challenge you agree to: \n\nRemove litter within the Buffalo/Niagara Watershed during the month of July 2025.\nCollect data using the Ocean Conservancy’s Clean Swell app to track your findings and support clean water advocacy.\nShare your experience and inspire others.\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThe top three people and/or groups who collect and record the most weight of trash will be awarded Solo Sweep kits and gift cards to local restaurants.\n\n\n\n\nNeed suggestions on sites to complete a Solo Sweep?\n\nPretty much anywhere you see litter is a spot to stop, collect the trash and record your findings.\nScroll down to view sites we’ve used at our annual Spring Sweep. These sites often have many visitors and trash can accumulate at these locations. Click here to also view that map. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
