Katherine Tarbell got these figures about school closings by calling the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District.

Evidence of overcrowding in other districts can be found in some news articles.

In an October 5, 2000, Buffalo News article, "District seeks solutions to overcrowding at two schools" by Mary Pasciak, Transit Middle School and Country Parkway Elementary School, both in Williamsville, are mentioned as being overcrowded. The possibility of temporary classrooms is discussed.

In a September 15, 2000, Buffalo News article, "District posts steady increase in enrollment" by Deidre Williams, Lancaster High School is mentioned as having a large enough increase to require the addition of ten new classrooms.
