In 1971, there were about 524,000 passenger cars in Erie and Niagara Counties. By 2011, that number had increased by 33% to 695,700. 171,700 more cars even as we lost 214,000 people. The extra time spent in all of that added traffic congestion is the obvious -- and irritating-- result.
