Save ACT – People said NO…for now

from Jalisa Giles of Declaration for American Democracy, writes:

After two weeks of open debate on the Senate floor, senators left town without passing Trumps’s #1 priority, the SAVE Act, delivering a major defeat for Donald Trump and his MAGA allies.

Senator Mike lee (R-UT) has all but declared that his strategy to pass the SAVE Act through a so-called “talking filibuster” has failed.  The bill has stalled thanks to grassroots pressure and principled bipartisan opposition, and the Senate has moved on to other legislation.

This happened because of YOU.  You said NO to a bill that would have blocked millions of eligible American voters from their freedom to vote, from married women and rural people to communities of color, low-income people, and overseas voters.

But we can’t let our guards down.

Republicans will continue to push for the SAVE Act. They’ve tried to ram it through every channel, legislation in the Senate, presidential executive order, and via the Election Assistance Commission, and they’re not giving up.  Some are eyeing the reconciliation process, while others are trying through federal courts.

This is a win for the freedom to vote and the clearest sign yet that Trump’s Presidents is on life support.  Ion American, the people have the final say.

The event is ongoing.
