The Erie Canal Heritage Market @ Market Square will recreate a canal-era open public market at the crossroads of Niagara Street and Amherst Street which formerly represented the busy core of the historic Village of Black Rock.  Visitors will experience the opportunity to meet and shop with local vendors and craftspeople as was the daily routine of village residents and canalers at the “Black Rock Stop”.   Activities will include live music, vendors, crafts demonstrations, children’s games, historic tours, and hay wagon rides.  This is a free, open-air event.

As a special part of this event, you are invited to revisit the 1800’s by signing historic petitions (with quill & ink, of course) for the Abolition of Slavery and Women’s Suffrage.    League of Women Voters for Buffalo-Niagara  volunteers will be overseeing this activity and tabling at this event .
