VOLUNTEER: Mrs. Frances Nash Garden Basket Farmers Market

Mrs. Frances Nash originated established this market near Roswell Park, and we had a regular presence there, with member registering voters every week. When she passed, the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor took over the organization. In addition to providing local farm produce to food deserts, they perform a lot of community services. Including music, wellness activities (Tai Chi, cycling), bookmobile and book bags. They are keen to have us there every week from June 2 to Oct. 13. I wasn’t sure we could staff it that many weeks, so I am starting us off with one day a month. If you have not seen the amazing Historical Corridor, this would be a great time to acquaint yourself with it, while expanding our outreach to underserved communities. If one or more volunteers fall in love with it and wants to take it on as their project, we can expand our services there.
